I knew writing about Twilio’s ZipWhip acquisition would take time. I didn’t expect it would require over 6,000 words across six posts. Of all the posts, it has also garnered the most feedback from readers (thank you!). Here is the story in an easy-to-read white paper (PDF).

White Paper Exclusive

This blog intentionally lacks graphics (a discussion for another time). However, the white paper has over 15 pages of charts, graphs, and numbers about Twilio’s business. We talk about the similarities between Jeff Lawson and John Lauer. We go over how interoperability created the conditions for the acquisition. We discuss the regulator’s role in this valuation creation cycle. And we do all this using Cory Doctorow’s framework while discarding his caustic us-versus-them rhetoric.

The writing was challenging and fun, arranging it in one accessible format even more so. I hope you enjoy it.
