From Sinch’s headquarters in Stockholm, Laurinda Pang leads 4,000 Sinchers around the globe who empower brands to connect with their customers across messaging, voice and email through its Customer Communications Cloud. As CEO, she is the steward of a global culture of innovation that pioneers the way the world communicates and delivers for its customers every day. While a first-time CEO, this isn’t her first foray into running a global organization. She has been at the helm of multinational organizations throughout her career. Most recently, she served as President of Global Customer Success and International Markets at Lumen Technologies, leading a team of 4,000 and managing a $12 billion dollar book-of-business.

In fact, some would say that defining, articulating, and executing strategies that enable rigorous team focus is something Laurinda has been doing her entire career.

She was CEO John Legere’s Chief of Staff at Global Crossing during what was then one of the high-profile bankruptcies in the business world. Laurinda helped execute the plan to navigate the company through tough financial waters, harsh public spotlight, and exacting legal scrutiny. Her spirited optimism is borne out of experience and resilience. She now shares her best advice to today’s leaders on how to deal with these uncertain times.

Editor’s note: This is the thirteenth in a series of guest posts where people from all walks of life share their best advice in times like these. A big thanks to the leaders who volunteered to share their life experiences. Reflection on the past is a deeply personal exercise. The willingness to share it with the world, especially in the written form, is a commendable act of vulnerability. For this alone, they have my deepest gratitude.

My Best Advice

“If leaders want to feel optimistic, go out and meet with your customers.  They will remind you of why you do what you do and how you’re helping them. I always come away from those conversations with greater energy.”
