I was tagged on LinkedIn with a request to share a list of recommendations for someone who, due to a medical issue would be spending a lot of time stationary. I went through my reading list for the past 4-5 years, and this is what I could come up with in 5 minutes or less. Yes, this is a listicle, but it’s in no particular order:
- Eleven Rings by Phil Jackson (Team building from one of the best coaches)
- Principles by Ray Dalio (His personal journey itself makes it worth the read)
- Leaders: Myth and Reality — Stan McChrystal (Lest we put our leaders on a pedestal)
- What I wish I knew when I was 20 — Tina Seelig (I wish I had read this when I was 20)
- Educated – Tara Westover (A Memoir, but also about resilience)
- The Everything Store – Brad Stone (Bezos)
- Total Recall – Arnold Schwarzenegger (From Army Tank Driver to the Governator)
- How I Built This – Guy Raz (Encylopedia for any leader)
- The Captain Class – Sam Walker (Great way to look at what it means to be a leader)
- The Biggest Bluff – Maria Konnikova (Memoir, but about risk taking)
- Ogilvy on Advertising – David Ogilvy (The Original Ad Man)
- Leadership in Turbulent Times – Doris Kearns Goodwin (How personal trials molded our greatest leaders)
Hope you enjoy them. Would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations as well! Happy Friday!
