The Docket Digest
helps you stay informed about everything the FCC is doing in the voice and text messaging space. We operate in a highly regulated, constantly evolving industry where advocacy plays a crucial role in building a sustainable business. To my knowledge, there isn’t an affordable service that focuses specifically on messaging-related topics.

That’s why, in June, I launched a new paid subscription service for $49/month that scans the FCC ECFS database for issues relevant to the CPaaS space. It’s a great way to stay on top of the hot topics the FCC is tackling and understand what various industry players are saying about them.

The September updates includes:

  1. September 10, 2024: FCC updates on blocking illegal texts, TCPA, and AI-driven robocalls.
  2. September 12, 2024: TCPA unsolicited ad petition withdrawn.
  3. September 13, 2024: Calls to ease TCPA consent; Reassigned Number Database update; ZipDX pushes opt-in measures.
  4. September 17, 2024: CTIA opposes new regulations; VON pushes for equal text vetting.
  5. September 18, 2024: Senators push for text regulation and AI disclosure in political ads.
  6. September 19, 2024: Somos proposes DNO updates; CTIA addresses spam; VON raises fine concerns; CCA requests DNO timeline change; Unified supports Caller ID.
  7. September 27, 2024: Pindrop reveals AI protection; Sorenson submits VRS routing proposal.
  8. September 27, 2024: FCC issues new rules for IVCS.

Finally

To find your next startup idea, you need a deep and personal connection to the problem you’re solving. Start by writing down twenty-five problems you see around you that need solutions, and then narrow that list to your top five. Your next startup idea is likely within one of those. This method has been attributed to both Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham and Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom—but that’s just the beginning.

The real test comes when you ask if this problem is worth solving for others. The quickest way to find out? Charge for it. This trial-by-fire will show if the solution you’re offering resonates with others.

The Docket Digest solves a personal problem for my day job, but I’ve also been fortunate to have a strong free-to-paid conversion rate. Moreover, the product feedback has been invaluable. Not only have the number of dockets tracked doubled, but we’re also working on new features that make staying on top of regulations and industry developments even easier. Stay tuned—or better yet, become a subscriber!
